CRIMSOC

The University of Canterbury Criminal Justice Society (CRIMSOC) is the academic club dedicated to students studying towards a Bachelor of Criminal Justice. CRIMSOC is an inclusive club which offers a range of opportunities and events for BCJ students to get involved with. Providing academic support, exam tutorials, social events and a bit of inspiration through events like careers evenings, CRIMSOC is multi-faceted with an active and vibrant community.

This year the club have some pretty awesome events coming up. The annual Quiz Night is set for mid-year, and is one to get a team in quick for as it is our yearly sell out event! If you’ve ever dreamt of being on CSI, CSI Day is one to attend where we are lucky to have the Police CIB Team tell us what it takes to be a part of the CSI Unit in Aotearoa.

2021 saw the launch of our new volunteering initiative Herenga Muka// Creating Connections, a volunteering opportunity unique to CRIMSOC in collaboration with the Department of Corrections, which allows students to use and apply differing skill sets in working with inmates at the Christchurch Mens’ Prison. Keep an eye out on our socials for any updates!

Bootcamp training is also on the cards for this year, for any students who are interested to see what goes on behind training for the Police and to put a test to those fitness levels.
CRIMSOC is a great way to meet and socialise with others working towards a BCJ, but note that you don’t have to be studying a BCJ to join as we welcome anyone to come along and get involved in our events.

Go beyond the lecture theatre, get involved with the wider community and join CRIMSOC.
