The writing retreat provides postgraduate students with an opportunity not only to write surrounded by a different environment, but to have a weekend away for building connections.
What were the aims of the event or initiative?
As always, the PGSA strives to support the academic and social success of postgraduate students at UC. The writing retreats we hold twice a year allow for that to happen by providing food, activities, study spaces, and networking opportunities - all in beautiful Cass just outside of Arthur's Pass.
How did you make it happen?
This year's PGSA executive team, alongside volunteer student attendees, used their talents to make the writing retreat event run smoothly, complete with incredible food from our PGSA chefs, passionate behind-the-scenes work from the event planners. The community spirit coming from the postgrad attendees themselves also meant that the event could be as best it could be.
How did you make it better?
Attention to detail in making sure to use each exec's strengths. Listening to feedback from previous attendees
How did you show your commitment to sustainability?
We prioritised aspects such as carpooling and grouping attendees to save on heating costs.
