|Name of event or initiative:||International Food Festival|
Brief overview of the event or initiative:
International Food Festival is a cultural event where multiple international clubs come together to open food stalls selling foods from their own countries in order to promote their food and culture to the UC community.
What were the aims of the event or initiative?
International Food Festival (IFF) aims to expose the UC community to local and international cultures from several countries. This event is also an opportunity to promote cultural variation from every international club. It is our hope to create an opportunity and platform for international and domestic students to come together and engage. IFF also aims to develop relationships between international clubs.
How did you make it happen?
International Food Festival was able to be a success thanks to the teamwork of multiple international clubs that take part in the event, without them, there would be no stalls to be opened. The event was joined by 8 international clubs including CMSA, UC Spanish Club, Asian-Kiwi Society, DeutschSOC, UC Balangay Filipino Club, UCVSC, PPIC and UCSL. The event was also held in conjunction with UCSA Arts Fest, and we had received great help from the UCSA to make this event a success as well.
How did you make it better?
In order to make the event better, we decided to work together with UCSA and organise the event in conjunction with the UCSA Arts Fest. This collaboration had garnered more interest in the event from the UC community. By having the event in conjunction with the UCSA Arts Fest, the event was able to have the accompaniment of great music and amazing performances by TuneSoc, making the ambience of the event a very great one.
How did you show your commitment to sustainability?
To show our commitment to sustainability, we encourage the participating clubs to serve the food they sold on biodegradable plates, bowls and use biodegradable cutleries as well. Not only that, we also encourage the customers to bring their own containers to the event in order to reduce the amount of waste.
