|Brief overview of the event or initiative:|
We hired a professional Yoga instructor from O-Studio, who have been a supporter of WIB in the past, to run a morning yoga session with approximately 40 of our members. Afterwards we served a nutritious breakfast of muesli/granola.
|What were the aims of the event or initiative?|
This was run on Monday 15th March, the last week of term 1 - a traditionally busy and stressful week for most undergrad students, with many tests occurring and assignments due in this week. We decided to run Yoga as a way for students to "start the week right" with relaxation, a bit of exercise, and a good breakfast.
|How did you make it happen?|
Instructor - O-Studio supplied an instructor as they had helped us run an event last year so we had a relationship.
|How did you make it better?|
Yoga with WIB was run last year too, this year we made sure to run it at a time where our members would benefit most - the beginning of a busy week - a great way to de-stress but not interrupting study time.
|How did you show your commitment to sustainability?|
WIB has a commitment to sustainability. We encouraged everyone to BYO bowl and utensils, but supplied biodegradable spoons (wood) and bowls (cardboard) for those who couldn't. Most of the food came in recyclable containers, and all waste was disposed of responsibly. Leftover food was donated to UCE where it was gratefully consumed!
