Which category is this nomination for?Best New Initiative or Event 2021
Name of event or initiative:Peer Support Wellbeing hub
Brief overview of the event or initiative:

Mental health wellbeing care at UC is abundant and complex. Often, students are unaware of the full range of services available to them, leading to miscommunication and a less-effective care system.

Hence, LWL desire to implement a new student-led initiative where students can get the right care, the first time.

What were the aims of the event or initiative?

The PSWH is a proposal never seen before at UC, and is set to have a tangible, grassroots impact on wellbeing on campus. The aims of our service are to:

- Build a virtual platform and/or chatroom, enabling and facilitating the communication between the student body and care on campus - operated by trained UC peer mentors.
- Operate a wellbeing hub, in which physical space is provided for student's personal downtime, meeting friends, and seeking advice from student peer leaders.
- Establish a functioning and independent wellbeing team, which gain valuable lifeskills in mental health and wellbeing care.

How did you make it happen?

Lads without Labels, along with those partnering on the initiative look to implement the peer support wellbeing hub in the early stages of 2022. Continuing on from this, Lads Without Labels will look to make further improvements to the programme using stakeholder feedback and will continue to maintain the hub into the foreseeable future.

We will collaborate with the UCSA, UC Wellness Services, and the UC Foundation in setting up a powerful service. We desire to work closely with the UC Health team, Victoria University (S.W.A.T program), and the student body to ensure its success.

How did you make it better?

The Peer Support Wellbeing Hub is an initiative never seen before at UC. We look forward to the opportunities to support student wellbeing it holds.

We will continue to communicate will all stakeholders to ensure the program is ran to the best of its ability.

How did you show your commitment to sustainability?

The program's sustainability will be closely monitored, and continuation packages will be provided to incoming executives, along with training.
