Brief overview of the event or initiative:
MASSIVE ramp set up in the Haere-roa carpark. 90 cubic metres of snow dumped on it. Big ski and snowboard competition goes down. 1000 spectators come to watch. 6 DJs and a saxophonist play during the night including a big afterparty. Double backflips, snowball fights, alcohol consumption. Very much fun.
What were the aims of the event or initiative?
Host a skiing competition on campus! Part of re-orientation just to provide the students with an awesome event.
How did you make it happen?
Scaffolding company, trucking company, Mt Hutt for the snow, DJs all the way from Auckland, Red Bull, digger and tipper truck hire. Big thanks to UCSA too
How did you make it better?
We built a bigger drop-in and bigger ramp so the athletes could do bigger tricks. Also has some party lights around the DJ during the skiing
How did you show your commitment to sustainability?
We re-use all the equipment year to year so we don't have to throw anything away
