Promoting your event

Pro Tip: Start promoting your early to give yourself the best shot at selling tickets! Starting promo only a couple of days before a major event can mean people don’t hear about your event until it’s too late.

Help from the UCSA

We have a few channels you can tap into. If you’d like advice or want to ask questions, email us on clubs@ucsa.org.nz

Social media:

  • UCSA Noticeboard Facebook group: Join as an individual or as your club page, and you can post your own messages and events. The group has a lot of members, who come from UC and the wider community.
  • UCSA Instagram stories/ collaborator posts: Got an interesting event coming up? Feel free to tag @ucsa_nz and if we have space on the feed or stories, we can re-share your events. This is at our discretion as the UCSA is responsible for releasing important student communications, UCSA services and UCSA events.
  • Club IG story takeovers: Talk to us about doing a club takeover on our Instagram stories. We’ve already done stories with QCanterbury, ENSOC, Dramasoc and more.
    • The details: The software for takeovers is no longer available, however, if you send through video files (max of 4) that meet the following specifications, we can upload these any time during Mon – Fri 8.30 am – 5 pm on our stories (subject to availability)
      • Video file must be 16:9 (Instagram stories size)
      • Each clip can be no longer than 60 seconds
      • If you want captions, please send the specific caption per video alongside your video files
      • If your file size is too large to email, please use WeTransfer.
  • Email: clubs@ucsa.org.nz

Other options

Chalking

You can do this yourself around Uni, but there are rules so that you don’t permanently mark important areas:

  • You can chalk on concrete paths and paved areas that are not undercover (so the rain can wash it away)
  • Please don’t chalk on walls, near entry ways, or cobblestones.
  • Matariki Quad is a complete no-go zone for chalking – please don’t chalk there.
